Garden 1

This was an original garden with a pathway through, which the children weren't happy with. They wanted a reading area, a water feature and a willow dome surrounded by "safe", pleasant plants.

From the brief supplied by the children, we designed a sensory gardens to meet their needs, and presented our plans to the head teacher.

The Children then went about raising funds to enable the design to become reality.

The site was cleared, and we created a circular reading area, constructed from new sanded railway sleepers placed vertically in the ground. In this area, we laid artificial grass so that the area can be enjoyed all year round.

One of the parents had already made a reading chair from hardwood, and this was secured into place.

To reach this area, we laid a curved pathway made from various materials (ie. Indian Sandstone, Cobbles & Gravel) to create different surfaces and textures.

At either side of this meandering path, we created an area for a solar powered water feature, which is in the shape of a willow tree.

Pergolas were provided to walk under, so that the children could hang wind chimes from. These were supplemented with climbers and then further on we planted a living willow dome, finished off with artificial grass that the children could sit on.

The rest of the area was planted up with various plants, shrubs and trees of a sensory nature.

Garden 2

This garden has a steep slope down to house so we terraced it using new railway sleepers and paved it in Indian sandstone creating upper and lower seating areas linked by steps through planting borders

Garden 3

This Garden was your typical "front lawn". Low maintenance was specified, designed and created for ease.

This garden has now matured beautifully.

The plan for the garden is below.
